On February 19, 2025, the conference “Migration and Human Rights” was held, organized by the Diocese of Melfi-Rampolla-Venosa. The aim was to analyze the phenomenon both as a global event and to consider the opportunities and critical issues surrounding its impact on local communities. The organizers and participants hoped to move beyond the emergency mentality and discuss the protection of human rights within the diocese and the integration of migrants.

The event, held at the Bishop’s Palace in Menfi and part of a broader program promoted by the diocese to promote a culture of welcome, was also attended by Father Aldo Skoda, director of SIMI and professor at the Pontifical Urbaniana University. Speaking together with Vincenzo Rosito, professor at the Pontifical John Paul II Theological Institute, with the presentation “Beyond Borders: Migration and Human Rights. Global Challenges and Local Responses for Families in a More Equal Society,” Father Skoda offered an analysis of global challenges and local responses to the phenomenon of migration.
