SIMI collaborates with the Department of Sociology of the Catholic University of Sacro Cuore in Milan, with the Fondazione Migrantes and the Scalabrinian Agency for Development Cooperation in the organization of the Summer School “Migration and Global Justice” which is held every year during summer.
In recent years the training initiatives dealing with the epochal phenomenon of international migration have been many. In this framework, the Summer School “Human Mobility and Global Justice” wants to be characterized by a kind of “repositioning” of perspective, placing the analysis of the processes of human mobility in a broader debate, which refers precisely to the question of Global Justice considered in all its implications: economic, political, social, cultural and ethical.
Through interventions of scholars and experts, the presentation of research initiatives and testimonies, the realization of interactive workshops, the Summer School wants to provide an opportunity for cultural, professional and personal growth, and distanced himself from the arguments usually exploited by the political debate, but even propsing a “quantum leap” compared to simplistic readings that often damage of migration, their protagonists and their government.
Target Participants
The Summer School is aimed, in particular, to undergraduate and graduate students, civil servants, social workers and professionals who, for various reasons, are involved in the field of migration and development cooperation; responsible for the pastoral care of immigrants, labor and the family, teachers and trainers, researchers and academics, heads of associations and volunteers, journalists and communication actors.

Credits
Participation in the Summer School is recognized by the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences of the Catholic University of the Sacro Cuore with 3 credits as elective activity. SIMI equates the Summer School in an integrative course of 3 ECTS.
Certification
At the end of the Summer School every passing student will receive a certificate of attendance. The School is part of the training and professional development for teachers of universities and automatically recognized by the school administration according to law, and produces – for teachers of all levels – the legal and economic effects of participation in training initiatives.
